If there is a group and there's only one woman in it, she is expected to serve tea. If there's a group and only one man in it, he's expected to do the heavy lifting. Strangely, this occurs even in a society like North-America where everyone has to be politically correct lest they get a lawsuit on their heads, for example in our IT dept where majority of staff are men the task of organizing b'day cakes, cards, dept parties, showers etc tends to fall on the one woman member. I think it has nothing to do with her personally, it's just that as a woman she's viewed as being able to better handle such issues. Had I been in your shoes I would have felt exactly the same.
