The hard life of Gwari village women in outskirts of Abuja





These old women pick stones from a freshly dug ditch to sell to masons

Gwari women are the only ones in Nigeria who carry heavy loads on their neck. The head is too 'sacred' to place things on, but it only applies to women not the men. Unfutunately women are the ones who do most of the carrying in the domestic front.
